Hi World!
I'M Judith Anderson
Born in urban Detroit’s eastside, my visual awakening began on the Greek island of Crete, while on holiday from language studies in Germany during the third year of undergrad studies at Eastern Michigan University. The contrast between the blue sea, sky and white-washed houses against black–clad townspeople walking through the labyrinth of alleys, formed picture perfect compositions at every step.
Slow forward 5 years later put me on another island, this one in the brilliant Caribbean, where I continued my delight in all things Jamaican. My role as a young wife to a resident architect of the island’s capital, Kingston, where we stayed during political upheaval, rose up to giving birth to a first-born son at the colonial Nutt all hospital.
My cultural journey continued, to an explosive, yet comforting reggae soundtrack. My premier SLR NIKON F1 was usually in my hands to markets and the mountains, to south coast fishing villages and north coast destination gems. Tropical spices, flavors, flora and fauna provided a plethora of eye candy alongside historical, colonial lessons.
Back in the United States a few short years later, my photographic education intensified with a degree in studio art and photography. Eventually a portrait and wedding photographic business grew with grew with our family of three children. Although my image making focus was portraiture for decades, eventually my deeper dives included more West Indian islands such as Cuba, and travels in global destinations such as Turkey, Germany, and Mexico.
Now a resident of San Juan Capistrano, the historical birthplace of southern California rancheros, my adventurous story continues surrounded by stables, caballos, hiking trails in neighboring hills, and a pleasant bike ride to the beach, guided by the scent of orange blossoms every Spring.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
